Sunday morning

no breakfast in bed

said the IKEA staff

clear-cut area

a songbird

in the headphones

autumn day

pickled pearents*

at the care home

* In the original, the term means both “pears” and “parents”. This blend word is my suggestion.

Thursday

flipping through a cook book

until the microwave beeps

spring meadow

a caterpillar transforms

it to a runway

proposal

but she gave me

the wrong finger

personal trainer

I’m getting ripped

off

office window

a web developer

finding a bug

spring cleaning

saving the spiderweb

for Halloween?

used to hear voices

they told me to do crazy things

they ended when I quit my job

mittens

waving to my ex

with one finger

beach bottles

we don’t get

the message

video interview

trying to hide

my background

house party

Titanic conversation

great icebreaker

meditation

finding myself

annoying

cages

always bigger

from the outside

do some need to get the foot*

for others

* In Swedish, “getting the foot” is equivalent to “getting the boot”.

first time skiing

I’m head over heels

* It parodies a saying that goes “No bad clothes, only bad weather”.

Sunday afternoon

finally finished

doing nothing

catching my breath

didn’t include nudity

Birk Andersson lives in Malmö, Sweden and he’s studying to become a gardener. In 2016 he discovered haiku and became obsessed. He does, however, write both traditional haiku and senryu and other types of short poems. He has had 6 books published in Swedish and 1 in English (Anarcho haiku, 2023).
