A face of yours does have human contours

a gesture of yours is really springlike and

a looking at me of yours is the first of the things

I think of when – in the vivid excelling

of the afternoon clouds – very slowly I

look for you.

And if dying is an everyday thing

your glance too has evil lights

and a sign of shyness or of love of yours

does nothing but delay the horror

of a day.

Hunger blew and it was extreme, the symptom

or the (singular) single fit of an extreme

passion, sincere – with its spreading

iconoclastic clothes on the ground and on the

sidewalk – of a lost value and remotely

what I’d have wanted to do. Sincerity

(oh fit of the last passion), sincere

it was, in its waking up at the forbidden hour

and in taking out, from each brush or toothpaste

what could be the good hour

the ungraspable moment now that the matter

is delicate; and you would count the hours, of a

possible prize of yours, and you would count the future

as if it were coins!

 

Amelia Rosselli (1930-1996) is considered one of the most important Italian poets of the past century. Born in Paris in 1930, she had to flee to Switzerland and then to the U.S. after the murder of her father and her uncle at the hands of Fascist militias. Back in Italy in the late 40s, in 1950 she settled in Rome, where she would spend the rest of her life. While her early literary experiments were in French and English, most of her output was in her father's native language.

Grazie mille a Eufemia Griffo per avermi ospitato sul suo blog di poesia “Memorie di una geisha” con un’intervista e alcuni haiku. haikua apsv

 

1) Presentati brevemente, indicando anche il tuo blog, se ne usi uno per pubblicare.

Ho cominciato a scrivere da adolescente e non ho più smesso, anche se nel tempo sono cambiate le forme e gli stili. Nell’ormai lontano 2011 pubblicai il mio primo componimento in un’antologia poetica cartacea a tema “La Notte”. Da allora, nel corso degli anni e con qualche iato, ho pubblicato diversi racconti, poesie e saggi in italiano e in inglese in varie antologie e riviste, sia in formato cartaceo che digitale.
Per quanto riguarda la mia attività di traduttore, tralasciando i primi acerbi tentativi, ho iniziato a dedicarmi alla traduzione in maniera più consapevole e professionale a partire dal 2012. Dopo la tesi triennale in Lingue e Culture, nel 2018 mi sono laureato in Scienze linguistiche e della traduzione alla Sapienza di Roma….

till it’s shut out —

stale bread

November in my bosom —

touching a new silence

of grey silk

autumn’s eyes —

long rainy roads

without a voice

flightless sky —

white notes of silence fall

I cultivate darkness

in the silence of my

vast garden

two lamps lit

in the evening —

the dark all around

silk rags

the memories in the night —

scattered coins

snowy fields —

a knot of silence

blocks my thoughts

flowing water —

the late autumn light

is gentler

wild plants

in the cracks of the walls —

motherless

pitch-coloured sky —

all the light behind

waits for the morning

distorted note —

surrounded by the sun

the empty chair

asphalt night —

voices in the silence

rust and wind

bitter almonds —

the lights under the tree go out

windows lit

on others' lives —

night all around

solo violin —

the wind bends the branches

towards autumn

the wind drops —

in solitude

the last wheat spike

flaxen sky —

I sow yellow primroses

between the wrinkles

winter kiss —

the snow falling slowly

between earth and sky

fallen veils —

sunsets in the eyes

on a grey wall

no more sky —

the heart confused by

asphalt meadows

in the dry grass

crows two by two —

lost memories

apre la gola a liturgie segrete,

un elogio alla negazione:

un gioco inquietante di volti

mangiati dalla notte, colpiti alle spalle

dalla mia disperata voglia di salvarli.

Muoio ogni giorno su navate incompiute

prendendo la forma di un libro profanato.
